The 27th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration will be held Monday, January 15, 2024. As part of this celebration, we invite you to nominate individual(s) whose actions exemplify the principles of this great American. Nominations must include one letter of recommendation and this completed form. We encourage any additional information which can be made available to the selection committee. These items may include resumes or additional letters of recommendation.

Letter of recommendation should describe, in detail, how the candidate exemplifies two or more aspects of Dr. King’s ideology of non-violence, equality, justice, cultural diversity, respect for humanity, etc. For more information about the nomination process, please contact Lyesha Fleming, Director of the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education (570) 422-3896 or email at lfleming@esu.edu. One award will be presented in each of the following categories:

Community Member

Candidates must be actively involved in Monroe County working to improve the community in ways such as advocating for education, working with children and youth, underprivileged and underrepresented groups, etc.

ESU Faculty, Staff, Administrators and/or Student

Candidates must be either currently employed by the University as faculty, staff, or administrator, and/or a current ESU student enrolled at the University for a minimum of two full-time semesters.
