Research and Economic Development
The East Stroudsburg University division of Research and Economic Development (RED) was established in 2007 to address the critical role higher education plays in economic development and to position the university as a leader in innovation, entrepreneurship, research and workforce training.
MISSION: RED supports the academic mission of ESU by providing the greater campus community with access to grants, sponsored research, workforce development and entrepreneurial opportunities.
VISION: RED will be recognized as the academic partner of choice for economic development initiatives, academic excellence, innovation, and best practices that will advance the region's economic vitality.
The RED team works closely with students, faculty, staff and businesses partners in addressing regional, national and international economic development opportunities.
The RED division spearheads the university's role in economic development though the following areas:

$11.25M; 51,000 sq. ft.; completed in 2010
Created 118 jobs, retained 143 jobs, provided internships, supported 16 high-tech companies; $131,935 in participation fees
Engaged 31 faculty and over 1000 students
Secured over $19.7M in grant funding — $8M for economic development initatives
Awarded $1.7M to 150 companies to train 12,139 employees
