Who is eligible to work under the CSL Program?
To be eligible for a CSL position, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and must demonstrate a financial need, which is determined by the Center for Enrollment Services at East Stroudsburg University. The amount of the CSL award is based upon the financial need, the number of hours per week the student can work, the period of employment, the anticipated wage rate, and the amount of other assistance available to the student. In addition, a student must maintain satisfactory progress.
How are students placed?
The Center for Enrollment Services acts as liaison between the student and the agency. Eligible students are provided with agency names, contact person, addresses, and telephone numbers. It is the student's responsibility to discuss position requirements and performance expectations with the individual agencies.
How many hours may a student work and how often are students paid?
Generally, students are permitted to work up to fifteen (15) hours per week. Student paychecks are generated biweekly and are available in the Center for Enrollment Services.
What are agencies required to do?
Non-profit agencies must complete an East Stroudsburg University Community Service Learning Off-Campus Agreement and must provide a job description for each Community Service Learning position. The agency must also maintain accurate time and attendance records for all participants and submit time sheets biweekly to the Center for Enrollment Services.
What does it cost the agency?
East Stroudsburg University is responsible for funding the Community Service Learning Program. Therefore, an agency is not responsible for providing any student employment dollars.
