EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University junior outside hitter Alyson Stark had a season-high 18 kills in her first match back on the court in five weeks in a 3-2 loss to Shippensburg on Friday night, and junior libero Lindsey Lullo went over 1,000 career digs in a 3-1 loss to Millersville on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

On Friday night against Shippensburg, the Warriors won the first set 25-18 before falling 25-18 and 25-22 to go down 2-1. ESU rallied from a 24-22 deficit to take the fourth set 26-24, with three kills by Stark down the stretch, but fell 15-12 in the deciding fifth set.

Millersville won the first two sets on Saturday afternoon, 25-14 and 25-20. ESU won the third set 25-22 but the Marauders closed the match with a 25-17 victory in the fourth.

Junior outside hitter Emily Detter was in double figures in kills in both matches, with 10 on Friday and 12 on Saturday. Junior middle hitter Brianne Bachman had eight kills both days, and freshman middle hitter Megan Plumb was credited with four solo blocks, part of a 10 block effort, against Shippensburg.

Lullo recorded 27 digs vs. Shippensburg and 22 vs. Millersville and has 1,003 digs in her career at ESU. She is the eighth Warrior with more than 1,000 digs since 1990 and came into the week ranked fifth in Division II in digs per game.

Stark had seven kills vs. Millersville and has 701 career kills for the Warriors with one match remaining in her junior season.

The Warriors held their Think Pink matches to raise money for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and will donate more than $1,600 between donations and sales of pink ESU Volleyball t-shirts. The Pink Ribbon Boutique, a local organization in East Stroudsburg, also supported the team and their fundraising efforts.

ESU will finish its 2009 campaign on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match at Lock Haven.
