EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University beat Tiffin 3-2 and fell to Bryant 3-0 on the first day of its home tournament on Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors won the second and third games against Tiffin and won the deciding fifth game 16-14. ESU was led by freshmen Kayla Mahaffay and Alyson Stark, who had 20 and 15 kills, respectively. Junior Amilee Schillinger also chipped in with 12 kills.

Freshman Amy Casteel recorded a career-high 54 assists, and junior Kim Dormer had a career-high 38 digs for ESU. The game scores were 21-30, 30-26, 30-25, 28-30 and 16-14.

Stark led the way against Bryant with 10 kills, while Dormer had 22 digs and Brianne Bachman chipped in with five kills and 4.5 blocks. The Warriors kept the first two games close (30-26, 30-27) before falling 30-17 in the third.

ESU will host Bridgeport at 12 p.m. and Caldwell at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Action will begin at 10 a.m. with Shippensburg against Tiffin.
