WEST CHESTER - West Chester defeated East Stroudsburg University in three games in the PSAC East women's volleyball opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Hollinger Field House.

The Warriors, the preseason favorite to win the PSAC East, pushed the Golden Rams deep into the first game but fell 31-29. West Chester went on to win the final two games 30-18 and 30-19. WCU was picked second in the preseason coaches poll and remains undefeated at 14-0 this season.

Freshman Chandell Pet led the Warriors with a season-high 10 kills, and freshman setter Amy Casteel had 16 assists in two games.

West Chester hit .278 in the match and was led by Kristen Decker (13 kills) and Lisa Yeasted (37 assists, 4 kills in 6 attacks). Jenna Burd and Ashley Focht added nine kills each.

ESU will travel to Post University in New Haven, Conn. on Thursday before hosting Shippensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors will get another shot at West Chester on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
