WEST CHESTER - The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team had 13 top-two finishes to win the PSAC East Challenge, held Saturday at West Chester. The Warriors men came in third, 1.5 points behind second-place Shippensburg.

Junior Katherine Doyle (100m), freshman Leanne Pelak (5000m), freshman Emily Hollick (400m hurdles), freshman Lynn Mayer (high jump), sophomore Trina Carito (triple jump), sophomore Emily Carothers (shot put) and the 4x100m relay team of Doyle, Jasmine Johnson, Amilee Schillinger and Nashanti Iglesias all won their events for the ESU women.

Mayer claimed the high jump with a height of 5-8 and is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II championships in May in Los Angeles. Mayer was an All-American during the indoor season.

For the men, sophomore Andrew McCloskey (100m dash), sophomore Drew Miller (triple jump) and freshman Bill Buis (javelin) all finished first in their field. Buis just missed the provisional qualifying standard in the javelin with a throw of 193-3. Teammate Kenny Cardullo qualified last week at the ESU-Lafayette Quad Meet at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Doyle and McCloskey were both second in the 200m dash for the Warriors. Other second-place finishes for the women came from freshman Jasmine Johnson in the 400m, sophomore Janelle Smith in the high jump, junior Kristen Morby in the pole vault, Carito in the long jump and sophomore Kayla Doran in the javelin.

Sophomore Chris Reddick was second in the 400m for the men, as was sophomore Matthew Gallup in the pole vault, Cardullo in the javelin and sophomore Paul Wagner in both the discus and the hammer.

The Warriors will continue their outdoor season next Friday and Saturday at the Bison Classic at Bucknell University in Lewisburg.
