EAST STROUDSBURG - The East Stroudsburg University men's and women's tennis teams and head coach Al McCormick will host a celebration of the late Dr. Charles Wolbers on Friday, October 20. The event is at Split Rock Lodge from 7 to 10.

Dr. Wolbers will be inducted into the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Keystone Room on campus and will also be honored at halftime of the Warriors' football game with Cheyney at 1 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Alumni and friends of Warriors tennis are encouraged to bring their rackets to Split Rock on Friday to play with old and new friends.

Dr. Wolbers coached at ESU from 1963 to 1985 and led the men's team to 10 conference titles and the woman's team to one. His 1969 men's squad finished third at the NCAA Division II tennis tournament. In 1986, he received the Tennis Merit Educational Award from the International Tennis Association.

Money raised from the weekend will help the 2006-07 tennis teams spring trip.

Lodging is available at Split Rock Lodge by calling Samantha Denver at 570-722-9111 ext. 805. A deposit of $95 plus tax for the first night is required and guests have 15 days prior to arrival to cancel.

For more information, contact Al McCormick at 570-422-3901.
