EAST STROUDSBURG – Jamie Ferrigno, a junior on the women’s tennis team, has been named the Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University for her performance for the Warriors this fall.

Ferrigno (West Grove/Avon Grove) posted a 7-2 singles record during ESU’s fall schedule and advanced to the quarterfinals of the PSAC Individual Championships with two victories last weekend at Shippensburg. She also had a 6-3 record in doubles with classmate Katie D’Ambrosia, including a first-round win on Saturday.

Ferrigno and D’Ambrosia have been selected to the All-PSAC East team in doubles the last two years and have a 32-18 record in their first 50 matches together for the Warriors. Ferrigno has also compiled a 37-12 career record in singles, playing at the No. 3 spot the past two years, and D’Ambrosia has a winning record (28-21) while competing mostly at No. 2.

ESU went 3-2 this fall after going 10-10 during the 2008-09 season and making the school’s first-ever appearance at the PSAC team championships, which are held each spring.
