EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman Amanda Kaufman is the second consecutive East Stroudsburg University women's tennis player to earn All-PSAC East honors in singles and the division's Freshman of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday.
Kaufman (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) follows sophomore Katie D'Ambrosia, who was recognized with both awards last year and are the only two ESU women to garner the conference's Freshman of the Year honor since it was first awarded in 1993.
D'Ambrosia (Broomall/Marple Newtown) and sophomore Jamie Ferrigno (West Grove/Avon Grove) were one of the three doubles teams selected to the all-conference team for the second straight year.
Kaufman went 14-10 in singles, including 9-5 at the No. 1 spot, in her freshman season at ESU. She made the quarterfinals of the PSAC tournament last fall and was also recognized as the PSAC East Player of the Week on March 30 this spring. Last year, D'Ambrosia was the Warriors' first All-PSAC selection in singles since the team championship was first awarded in 2001.
D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno went 11-8 as a doubles team this year and are 26-15 in their first two seasons for the Warriors. They won two matches at the PSAC tournament to make the semifinals for the second straight year and also won their only match at the ITA East Regionals last fall.
ESU went 4-4 against the PSAC East this season and made its first-ever appearance in the conference playoffs.
