GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - East Stroudsburg University won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to defeat Adelphi 8-1 in women's tennis on Sunday afternoon. Adelphi won the men's contest 7-2.

Seniors Mandie Rutt and Shana Morris earned an 8-6 win at first doubles and freshmen Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno (No. 2 doubles) and junior Sarah Deisher and sophomore Marissa Tanner (No. 3) both won their doubles match-ups 8-0.

Deisher and sophomore Liz Farnsworth both earned straight set wins at fifth and sixth singles. The remainder of the singles matches were played to eight games after the Warriors secured the team victory.

D'Ambrosia won 8-1 at No. 2 singles and Rutt (No. 3) and Ferrigno (No. 4) both won their matches 8-0.

In the men's match, freshmen Will Norris and Ryan Baxter picked up an 8-2 win at third doubles and junior Rob Mikolon went to a third-set tiebreaker in a 6-7, 6-3, 10-4 win at sixth singles.

ESU will be back in action on Tuesday with a trip to PSAC opponent Kutztown.
