HILTON HEAD, S.C. - East Stroudsburg University's men's and women's tennis teams started their spring schedule on Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C. after having their season opener washed away at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday.

Both teams lost by 7-2 scores, the men to Case Western Reserve, and the women against Baldwin-Wallace, both from Ohio.

Freshmen Will Norris and Ryan Baxter picked up a point at third doubles for the men with a 9-7 (7-4) victory, and junior Rob Mikolon won 6-1, 6-3 at sixth singles.

For the women, the freshmen doubles tandem of Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno posted an 8-5 win in the No. 2 slot. D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno were 7-2 in doubles play in the fall and advanced to the semifinals of the PSAC Championships at Shippensburg.

Ferrigno also knocked off Krista Marshall, 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles match. Two other Warriors went into third-set tiebreakers in their singles matches, D'Ambrosia at No. 2 and Sarah Deisher at No. 5. Deisher and Marissa Tanner dropped a competitive match at third doubles by an 8-6 score.
