STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University's women's tennis team won its sixth straight match to finish the 2007-08 dual season with a 10-9 record, and the men won for the third time in four matches as the Warriors swept Chestnut Hill on Sunday at Stroudsburg High School.

The ESU women won all nine matches against the Griffins, including victories in both singles and doubles from seniors Shana Morris and Mandie Rutt, junior Sarah Deisher and freshman Katie D'Ambrosia.

Morris and Rutt captured an 8-1 win at first doubles, Morris won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Rutt posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.

D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno had an 8-2 win at second doubles and D'Ambrosia blanked Karen Guwuriro, 6-0, 6-0 at second singles.

Deisher earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the fourth singles match, and sophomore Liz Farnsworth (No. 5, 6-0, 6-1) and junior Amanda Wascavich (No. 6, 6-1, 6-4) were also victorious in single for ESU.

Four Warriors also earned two victories in an 8-1 win on the men's side - senior Jeff Kurz, juniors Julian Taibi and Rob Mikolon, and freshman Will Norris.

Kurz won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and teamed with sophomore Kyle Doebler for an 8-0 victory at first doubles. Taibi and Mikolon won 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles match and also won at the final two singles spots.

Norris and Ryan Baxter improved to 10-3 at third doubles this spring with an 8-1 win, and Norris had a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles.

Freshman Jared Howat also won the third singles match for the Warriors with a 6-1, 6-0 decision.

The ESU men travel to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for their final non-conference match on Tuesday. The PSAC tournament will be held next weekend at Bloomsburg (April 25-26).
