BLOOMSBURG - Senior Shana Morris won at No. 1 singles and teamed with Mandie Rutt for an 8-3 win at first doubles to lead the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team to a 6-3 win over Dowling on Saturday at the Bloomsburg Invitational.

The Huskies earned wins over both the ESU men (8-1) and women (6-3), and the men fell 9-0 to Stonehill College (Mass.) to complete the Warriors action over the weekend.

Freshman Jamie Ferrigno (No. 4) and sophomore Liz Farnsworth (No. 6) also won their singles matches for ESU against Dowling, and all three doubles teams were victorious - Morris and Rutt at No. 1, Ferrigno and Katie D'Ambrosia at No. 2 and Sarah Deisher and Marissa Tanner at No. 3.

Deisher and Tanner also won 8-1 at third doubles against Bloomsburg. D'Ambrosia outlasted Allison Carney for a 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win at second singles, and Ferrigno won 6-4, 6-1 at fourth singles.

The third doubles pairing of freshmen Ryan Baxter and Will Norris picked up the only point for the ESU men with a 9-7 win against Bloomsburg. Junior Rob Mikolon went to a 10-point tiebreaker at No. 6 singles against the Huskies, as did junior Julian Taibi at No. 5 against Stonehill.

The Warriors host Caldwell College in their first home match of the season on Monday at Wolbers Courts.
