BLOOMSBURG - East Stroudsburg University
freshman Jamie Ferrigno advanced to the semifinals of the "B" singles draw at
the ITA East Regional held at Bloomsburg
University this weekend.
Ferrigno won five straight matches, culminating with a 3-6,
6-1, 10-6 victory over No. 3 seed Catherine Dalton from St. Michael's to make
the semifinals. She fell 6-2, 6-2 to No. 2 seed Nina Kowalski of California (Pa.),
who had dropped just two games to that point in the tournament.
Sarah Deisher and Katie D'Ambrosia both won one "B" singles
match for the Warriors, and Marissa Tanner also competed in the draw.
Ferrigno and D'Ambrosia won two matches in the "B" doubles
tournament after receiving a first round bye. They won both matches 8-3 before
falling 8-3 to the No. 1 seed, Elodie Briquet and Kowalski from California.
In the "A" singles backet, Shana Morris received a first
round bye before falling to Quena Borres (Holy Family) 7-5, 6-7 (4), 10-7.
Mandie Rutt lost 6-4, 6-2 in her first round match vs. Allison Cohen of Lemoyne College.
Morris and Rutt teamed up for a first-round victory in the
"A" doubles bracket, beating Georgian Court's duo of Corrine Stinemire and
Autumn Florez 8-4 before falling 8-1 in the second round to the top doubles
team from Concordia College.
