KUTZTOWN - Tara Reed drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Bloomsburg a 3-2 win over East Stroudsburg University in the PSAC Softball Tournament on Friday.

The Warriors opened their first conference postseason appearance with an eight-inning, 1-0 win over Edinboro on Thursday before falling 6-1 to Kutztown later in the day. The loss to Bloomsburg knocks ESU out of the PSAC Tournament, although the Warriors still have a shot to qualify for the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional. ESU entered the weekend ranked No. 4 in the region, with the top eight teams selected to participate in the regional.

Bloomsburg took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Alyssa English hit an RBI double, and later scored on a single by Jen Miller.

Ali Hale cut the margin to 2-1 in the fourth with a double that scored Briana Malachowski, who was pinch running for Shannon Dietrich who reached on a walk. The Warriors tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning when Jen Veronisi singled and stole second, and scored on a double by Jess Schmoyer.

Amanda Feist reached on an infield single to start the top of the seventh, but the Warriors were unable to get anything going offensively to push the go-ahead run across. In the bottom of the inning, Kayleen Sidisky hit a one-out double to right, pinch runner Casey Massimini moved to third on a single by Miller, and Reed reached on a fielders choice as Massimini crossed the plate for the winning run.

Kristen Halvorsen went the distance in the circle for ESU, going 6 1/3 innings with seven hits, three runs and three strikeouts. Ashley Lynn relieved starter Sheelin Fisher with two outs in the fifth inning and gave up just one hit in 2 1/3 as she earned her 20th win of the season.
