SHIPPENSBURG - East Stroudsburg University softball players Candice Pastor and Ashley Miller have been named to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships All-Tournament Team, it was announced Monday.
ESU upset Kutztown 3-1 in the tournament's opening game and lost two tough games to Shippensburg (3-2 in 11 innings) and California (1-0).
Pastor, a sophomore third baseman, was one of four infielders selected. Miller, a senior, was one of three outfielders chosen for the team.
Pastor was outstanding defensively and made a handful of stellar plays. She accounted for eight outs in the loss to Shippensburg, including a diving catch of a bunt. For the tournament, she had six put outs and 10 assists and also doubled and walked twice.
Miller, who played right field during the tournament, hit a team-best .333. She had three hits, including a double and scored a team-high two runs. She was hit by a pitch and had two sacrifice bunts as well as five putouts and one assist.
Lock Have beat Bloomsburg twice in two days to win the Regional and earn a berth in the College World Series this weekend in Salem, Va.
