EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University senior shortstop Jen Veronesi has been named to the Mid-Atlantic Region first team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the NFCA released on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Veronesi was named All-PSAC East for the third time in her career and as a member of the first team for the second time. She was the PSAC East Rookie of the Year and a first team selection as a freshman in 2004, and was a second team honoree last year.

Veronesi holds ESU school records in nearly every major offensive category, including hits (196), home runs (18), runs batted in (91), runs scored (125) and stolen bases (74). She is also tied for the all-time mark with 14 career triples and is tied for second with 32 doubles.

In 2007, Veronesi has led the Warriors with six home runs, 29 RBI and 30 runs while hitting .322. She also has 42 stolen bases and is eighth in Division II with 0.91 per game as of the last set of rankings on May 6. Veronesi set single season school records with nine homers and 43 runs scored as a junior.

Veronesi and the Warriors defeated Shippensburg 4-0 in the opening game of the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Thursday to improve to 27-26 on the season. ESU is making its second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and just the third in school history.
