EAST STROUDSBURG - Shortstop Jen Veronesi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) and second baseman Shannon Dietrich (Smallwood, N.Y./Monticello), both four-year starters for East Stroudsburg University, have capped their careers with placement on the All-PSAC East team.
Veronesi (first team) was named all-conference for the third time, as she started her career with a first-team selection in 2004 and was a second-team member last year. Dietrich (second team) is a making her inaugural appearance on the All-PSAC East squad.
Veronesi has led the Warriors with 29 runs batted in, 30 runs scored and six home runs to date this season. She entered the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional with a .322 batting average and ranked eighth in the nation with 0.91 stolen bases per game for the last reporting period (May 6). Veronesi has been successful on 42 of her 45 stolen base attempts in 2007.
Dietrich leads ESU with a .333 batting average and 11 doubles, and is ninth in the nation in being hit by pitches, with 14 in 53 games. She has 24 RBI and 24 runs, and is second on the team with five home runs.
ESU defeated Shippensburg 4-0 in the opening game of the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Thursday to improve to 27-26 on the season. The Warriors are making their second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and just the third in school history.
