EAST STROUDSBURG - Crissy Wontroba set the school record for wins and East Stroudsburg University split with Bloomsburg University, Monday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division doubleheader at Zimbar Field.
ESU won the opener 3-2 while Bloomsburg stopped a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win in the nightcap.
Wontroba improved to 14-8 on the season with a complete-game effort. She walked none and struck out six and passed Lynn Kuchinskas (1977) and Tina Morak (2000) in the school record books for wins in a season.
The Warriors scored all of their runs on home runs in the first game. Lindsey Kost hit her fifth home run of the season in the second, a two-run shot to left field with Eliza Morosco aboard. Morosco singled.
Bloomsburg tied the game in the third with a two-run home run from Lisa Bohner.
The game stayed tied until the bottom of the sixth when Candice Pastor launched a solo home run to left on a 2-2 pitch for the winning run. It was her fifth home run of the season and came with one out.
In the second game, Bloomsburg scored four runs in its first at-bat and held on to win.
Trailing 4-0, the Warriors pushed across a run in the first when Jennifer Veronesi tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Miller.
After Bloomsburg scored two more in the second, the Warriors cut the deficit to three. With one out, Melissa McAloon walked and Veronesi doubled. Jessica Schmoyer and Miller had back-to-back singled to score both runs but ESU could get no closer.
ESU is now 24-17 overall and 8-6 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg is 25-12 and 9-5. The Warriors will host Kutztown Wednesday in a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader at Zimbar Field.
