EAST STROUDSBURG - All-American pitcher Kristin Erb allowed one run and struck out 18 in 12 innings as No. 5 Lock Haven took a non-conference softball doubleheader from East Stroudsburg University, 8-0 and 4-1, on Wednesday at Zimbar Field.

Erb set the NCAA Division II record for career wins last week and improved to 147-16 in her four years at Lock Haven. She is 29-4 this season for the Bald Eagles, who are 31-5 and ranked fifth in this week's NFCA Coaches Poll.

In the opening game, Lock Haven scored in each of the first three innings, highlighted by home runs by Amanda Gutmaker and Amanda Roosa, and stretched the advantage to 8-0 with four runs in the fifth. Gutmaker, Roosa and leadoff hitter Ilia Lopez all drove in runs in the frame to bring the eight-run rule into effect.

ESU had a pair of hits in the second inning, by junior OF Kara Darcey and freshman DH Brittany Zanzalari, but couldn't scratch out a run off Erb.

The Warriors collected seven hits in the second game and scored in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. Senior 1B Kerri Jakobsen singled and pinch runner Caitlin Rosenbaum advanced to second on a base hit by sophomore SS Brittany Racek and scored on a single by freshman 3B Rachel Gieringer.

Lock Haven went ahead 3-1 in the fifth inning when Lopez and Erb had RBI doubles, and scored its final run in the sixth on a home run by Erica Eisenbise.

Senior Jennifer Bensinger and junior Jackie Battaglino both threw complete games for ESU in the circle and Racek had two hits in the nightcap.

The Warriors host West Chester to open the second half of their PSAC East schedule on Friday with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. at Zimbar Field.
