BLOOMSBURG - Bloomsburg improved to 21-2 on the season with two wins over East Stroudsburg University to kick off the PSAC East softball schedule on Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Lynn threw a 3-0 shutout for the Huskies in the opener, and Tara Reed was the winning pitcher in a 5-1 victory in the nightcap.

Junior catcher Amanda Feist went 3-for-3 at the plate in game one, but Bloomsburg plated runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings off ESU senior Kristen Halvorsen and Lynn scattered seven hits and struck out 12.

Bloomsburg scored three unearned runs in the first inning of the second game before ESU (6-15, 0-2) got on the board in the third. Freshman 2B Brittany Racek led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Feist and scored on a base hit by senior 1B Ali Hale.

The Huskies added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth frames against junior Jen Bensinger, who threw three innings in relief of sophomore Jackie Battaglino.

ESU will head to Shippensburg for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.
