EAST STROUDSBURG - Dani Shields won a 1-0 pitchers duel with Kristen Halvorsen in the first game, and Shippensburg used a four-run fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie for a 5-1 win in the nightcap to take a PSAC East doubleheader from East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon at Zimbar Field.

The Raiders scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning in the opener when Moira Johnsen hit a two-out double and scored on a single by Liz Good.

The rest of the game was dominated by Shields and Halvorsen, who combined to allow just seven hits - four by Shippensburg (24-18, 7-7) and three by the Warriors (11-24, 5-9) - but Halvorsen came out on the short end of the decision.

Halvorsen went to the circle again for the Warriors in game two and pitched around three consecutive singles to open the game to get out of the first inning. Neither team scored through the first three innings before Shippensburg got on the board in the fourth on a solo home run by Lisamarie Ramagli.

The Warriors responded as senior 1B Ali Hale walked and was replaced by freshman Alicea Ashe, who moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit by senior 3B Candice Pastor. ESU eventually loaded the bases before Shippensburg starter Jill Kirby got out of the inning.

The 1-1 tie was shortlived as Shippensburg scored four runs (three unearned) in the fifth. Jill Mullan tripled to start the inning and came home on a single by Sarah Stengl, and a throwing error by Halvorsen on a sacrifice bunt attempt opened the door to a big inning for the Raiders.

Sophomore Jackie Battaglino relieved Halvorsen with two outs in the inning and didn't give up a hit in 2.1 innings of work.

Kirby surrendered three hits and four walks to go with six strikeouts in the complete game victory for Shippensburg.

ESU hosts Bloomsburg in PSAC East action on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Zimbar Field.
