EAST STROUDSBURG - Seton Hill won two one-run games, 6-5 in eight innings and 3-2, in a non-conference softball doubleheader at East Stroudsburg University on Thursday.

The Griffins overcame a 4-2 deficit with two outs in the top of the seventh in the first game, as Holly Thomas hit a two-run double with the bases loaded and Louanne Wiegand followed with a single to give Seton Hill a 5-4 lead.

ESU put together its own two-out rally to send the game to extra innings when freshman 2B Brittany Racek doubled, freshman OF Jamie Mingis reached on an error on a bunt attempt and senior C Eliza Morosco delivered the game-tying single to plate Racek.

Seton Hill went ahead 6-5 in the eighth inning with an unearned run, and pitcher Lyndsey Nusser (7.2 IP, 2 runs) shut down the Warriors in the bottom of the inning at the end of a strong performance in relief.

The Warriors built their 4-2 lead with three runs in the first inning, which included a two RBI single by senior 3B Candice Pastor and a run-scoring base hit from sophomore OF Kara Darcey. They added another run in the fourth after Seton Hill pulled within 3-2 when junior C Amanda Feist scored on a double steal.

Senior pitcher Kristen Halvorsen threw her 14th complete game of the season but took the loss for the Warriors.

In game two, ESU freshman Sam Bastian and Seton Hill's Caitlyn Kamalich traded zeroes through the first three innings before the Griffins struck for a pair of runs in the fourth. They added another to go ahead 3-0 in the fifth on a home run by Jessica Bob before ESU got on the board.

Morosco drove in freshman DH Becky Benner for ESU in the bottom of the fifth, and the Warriors used another big rally with two outs to nearly tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth.

Senior SS Laura Snyder started the comeback with a triple and scored on a single by Benner, and Racek and Mingis both walked to load the bases before Nusser induced a pop up to third to get out of the frame.

In the seventh, two errors gave ESU runners on second and third with one out, but a double play on a bunt ended the game.

Caitlyn Kamalich yielded only one run in five innings as the starter for the Griffins, while Nusser came on in the sixth and earned the save. Bastian threw the first four innings for ESU, giving up two runs, before being replaced by sophomore Jackie Battaglino.

ESU hosts Shippensburg on Saturday in PSAC East action, the first of six straight home doubleheaders at Zimbar Field to wrap up the conference schedule.
