Box Scores - W 2-1, L 8-7

WEST CHESTER - East Stroudsburg University scored two runs in the fifth inning for a come-from-behind 2-1 win in the opener, but saw a five-run rally over the final two frames fall short in an 8-7 loss in the second game of a PSAC East softball doubleheader at West Chester on Sunday.

Senior Kristen Halvorsen gave up just four hits in the game and only two after the first inning to earn the win in game one.

Senior 3B Candice Pastor and senior 1B Ali Hale both had RBI singles in the pivotal fifth inning, as freshman DH Brittany Racek had a base hit and scored and freshman Alicea Ashe scored the go-ahead run as a pinch runner.

West Chester (23-10, 4-4) put the tying run on second with one out in the sixth, but Halvorsen got a pop up and a ground out to end the inning and improved to 6-8 this season with her third consecutive victory.

Sophomore OF Kara Darcey hit a two-run homer in the second to put the Warriors (10-19, 4-6) on the board first in the nightcap, but the Golden Rams scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie and five in the next frame to go ahead.

ESU got three runs back in the top of the sixth including an RBI single by Darcey and a sacrifice fly from senior SS Laura Snyder, and rallied to tie the game at 7-7 with two runs in the seventh when senior C Eliza Morosco went deep with two outs and a runner on.

West Chester put its first two runners on in the bottom of the seventh on an error and a bunt single, and Mandy Jankowski had a pinch-hit single to bring home the winning run.

Morosco was 3-for-3 in the second game, including her first home run of the season, and Darcey was 2-for-3 at the plate in both games for the Warriors.

ESU will travel to Millersville to finish the first half of PSAC East play on Tuesday with a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
