MANSFIELD - Freshman Brittany Racek hit the go-ahead homer in the top of the ninth of a 4-1 win in the opener and sophomore Jackie Battaglino tossed a 2-0 shutout in the nightcap as East Stroudsburg University swept a PSAC East softball doubleheader at Mansfield on Saturday.

Senior Kristen Halvorsen went all nine innings in the first game, which went into extra innings tied at 1-1 after Janelle Antes homered for Mansfield (6-9, 0-6) in the second inning and senior CF Missy McAloon drew a bases loaded walk for ESU's run in the fourth.

Both teams threatened in the eighth inning, as a pair of Mansfield errors gave ESU (9-18, 3-5) runners on second and third with one out but the Warriors couldn't push a run across. Megan Trutt had a leadoff double for the Mounties in the bottom of the frame and Jess Christ was hit by a pitch, but Halvorsen stranded the potential winning run on second base.

Racek broke the tie with a home run to left-center with one out in the ninth. Junior C Amanda Feist and senior 1B Ali Hale both singled to keep the inning going, and senior 3B Candice Pastor gave the Warriors two insurance runs with a double that made the score 4-1.

Mansfield managed only a two-out single in the ninth inning off Halvorsen, who improved to 5-8 on the season and won her second straight start.

Battaglino fired a five-hitter for her first career shutout in the second game, which was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when senior C Eliza Morosco plated the game's only runs with a two RBI single.

Racek started the rally with a one-out base hit, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Pastor reached on a fielders choice and was replaced by pinch runner Alicea Ashe, and Morosco's two-out single brought both runners home.

Mansfield put two runners on in the bottom of the sixth with a hit and an error, but sophomore RF Kara Darcey gunned down Jess Christ at the plate to end the inning. Battaglino pitched around a leadoff single in the seventh to earn the victory.

ESU pounded out 12 hits in the first game to match its season-high. Hale was 3-for-5 in game one and 2-for-3 in game two, and Racek, Pastor and Darcey each had two hits in the opener.

The Warriors have won three of their last four conference games and travel to West Chester to complete their weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.
