EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University sophomore Jess Schmoyer has been named to the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team, and is also the ABC Trophy Athlete of the Week after leading ESU to third place in the NCAA Division II Softball regional last weekend.

Schmoyer was 7-for-13 with two home runs and drove in nine runs in five games for the Warriors at the Mid-Atlantic Regional, which was held at Kutztown. She also walked twice, laid down three sacrifice bunts, hit a double and scored five runs.

With ESU's opponents determined not to let All-Region shortstop Jen Veronesi beat them, Schmoyer stepped up to carry the Warriors' offense. Veronesi was 4-for-11 and also walked four times (twice intentionally) and was hit by a pitch twice to reach base 10 times in the tournament. Schmoyer hit in the No. 2 spot in the order right behind Veronesi and was directly involved in the scoring of 12 of ESU's 20 runs in the regional.

A Kutztown native, Schmoyer drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give ESU an 11-10 victory over the host Golden Bears on Saturday morning. She also gave the Warriors a 5-1 lead with a two-out, two-run single in the second inning. The win knocked No. 2 seed Kutztown out of the tournament and gave ESU a berth in the semifinals.

In the Warriors' fourth game of the regional, against Edinboro, Schmoyer drove in three runs in ESU's 4-2 win. She hit a two-run double in the second inning on Saturday, and after the game was suspended due to darkness and resumed Sunday morning, she drove the first pitch she saw over the fence in center field for her second home run of the tournament.

Schmoyer opened the regional with a two-run homer in the first inning of ESU's 4-0 victory over Shippensburg. She also added an RBI single in the second inning.
