Box Score

KUTZTOWN – Molly Cooper scored the game’s only goal in the 31st minute and Alyssa Hackelberg made seven saves for the Golden Bears’ 11th shutout of the season as Kutztown beat visiting East Stroudsburg University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Kutztown (12-3-2, 7-2-1), which has already secured the No. 2 seed in the PSAC East, had an eight game, month-long shutout streak snapped in a 2-0 loss at top seed West Chester on Tuesday.

ESU (10-5-2, 4-4-2) held a 13-12 edge in shots, with both teams holding a huge advantage in either half. Kutztown outshot the Warriors 10-3 in the first half which produced Cooper’s goal on an assist from Chelsea Bressler. ESU led 10-2 in shots in the second half and senior goalkeeper Michelle Ginn made eight saves.

The Warriors finish the day tied for third in the PSAC East with Bloomsburg with 14 points going into next Wednesday’s match-up on the road at Bloomsburg.

Both schools will finish their regular season schedules with tough games next Saturday – ESU hosts West Chester, while Bloomsburg hosts Kutztown. Shippensburg is currently fifth in the PSAC East with nine points, with the top four teams making the postseason.
