Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior forward Tara Takac scored her second goal of the game 3:30 into the second overtime to lift the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team past Lock Haven in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Takac opened the scoring in the 12th minute, and an own goal by ESU tied the game at 1-1 with nine minutes left in the first half. That would be the only scoring until a burst midway through the second half that set up the overtime period.

Arielle Gordon gave Lock Haven a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute, but the Warriors responded quickly as freshman Kailyn Buckley played a ball off the head of junior Lynda Hicks to tie the score at 2-2 in the 70th minute.

ESU went ahead 3-2 less than two minutes later on a goal by junior Dena Shleifer. Lock Haven leveled the score at 3-3 with 6:17 remaining as Sam Engard blasted a shot from 25 yards out.

The Warriors earned their first overtime victory of the year to improve to 5-4 overall. ESU had dropped a pair of overtime decisions earlier in the season against IUP and West Chester.

ESU (3-2 PSAC East) will travel to Bloomsburg for a conference game on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
