EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 19 West Chester secured the top seed in the PSAC East in the upcoming PSAC women's soccer championship with a 2-0 win at East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night.

The Warriors are the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Bloomsburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium. ESU beat the Huskies 2-1 on Aug. 29 in the first night soccer game in school history, and tied 1-1 at Bloomsburg on Sept. 26. The winner will advance to the semifinal on Friday at West Chester.

Christine Thurwanger scored 33:19 into the match for the Golden Rams, and Danielle Gerz converted on a pass from Lauren Ginnona five minutes into the second half to give West Chester a 2-0 lead.

West Chester limited ESU to six shots and Brittany Barnes made two saves. Junior Janine Turcio had nine saves while facing 12 shots for the Warriors.

The loss is just the second in the last 12 games for ESU, with both coming to West Chester. The Warriors are 9-2-1 since winning 2-0 at Millersville on Sept. 12.

ESU will travel to Edinboro on Saturday for its final game of the regular season.
