EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Michelle Mangiaruga has been named the ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University for her performance for the Warriors' lacrosse team.

Mangiaruga (North Wales/North Penn) had nine goals and an assist in two games for ESU last week, running her season total to 45 goals, tied for sixth in school history with one game remaining on Wednesday at Bloomsburg.

She recorded her second five-goal game of the season on Sunday against third-ranked Mercyhurst in a 17-13 loss that was close throughout. She also added an assist to tie her career-high with six points.

Mangiaruga scored four goals in a 9-6 win at Shippensburg on Thursday, a victory that gave the Warriors a 5-4 record in PSAC action. She has 10 hat tricks this season and has scored at least two goals in 13 of ESU's 16 games, and has also notched 10 assists for a team-high 55 points.

The sophomore midfielder scored 15 goals in seven games in an injury-shortened freshman season and has 60 goals in the first 23 games of her career as a Warrior.

ABC Trophy, Inc. awards an athlete of the week to an outstanding student-athlete each week at ESU. Each recipient is presented with a red and silver plaque.
