SHIPPENSBURG - Sophomore Michelle Mangiaruga scored four goals and senior Kirstin Mayberry made 15 saves, one off her season-high, to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 9-6 win at Shippensburg in PSAC East lacrosse on Thursday afternoon.

Mangiaruga, the Warriors' leading scorer with 40 goals, moved into the top 10 in school history in goals in a season and had her ninth hat trick in 15 games. Sophomore Christine Bradley scored three goals for her seventh hat trick of the year and sophomore Morgan Knowles and freshman Jessica Curran both added a goal each for ESU (7-8, 5-4).

Mangiaruga scored her third goal 11:32 into the game and Curran found the net 25 seconds later to give ESU a 5-2 lead with 18:03 remaining in the first half. Shippensburg (8-8, 4-5) scored a pair of goals and held the Warriors scoreless the rest of the period to pull within 5-4 at intermission, and scored four minutes into the second half to tie the game.

Mangiaruga gave ESU the lead for good with 22:43 left and Bradley scored less than six minutes later for a 7-5 advantage. Ship cut the deficit to one at the 10-minute mark and the score was 7-6 for the next seven minutes before Bradley added an insurance goal off a free position shot with three minutes to go, and Knowles scored with 2:01 left to set the final margin at 9-6.

Mayberry's save percentage of .714 was her second-best of the season, while Meghan Kearney made eight saves for Shippensburg. ESU won 10 of the 17 draw controls, including five by Knowles, who has a team-high 43 draw controls this year.

ESU takes over third place in the PSAC East standings with a 5-4 record with one conference game remaining. The Warriors host Mercyhurst in non-conference action on Sunday at 11 a.m. and travel to Bloomsburg to close their season next Wednesday. Bloomsburg secured the second and final spot in the PSAC playoffs with a 22-8 win over Kutztown on Thursday.
