EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman Karen Cash has been named the PSAC Co-Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week after claiming medalist honors for East Stroudsburg University at the Clarion Invitational last weekend.

Cash (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands) shares the award with California sophomore Diane Luke, who won the William Bing-Beal Classic at Findlay (Ohio).

Cash shot a 27-hole score of 117 in the rain-shortened event at Clarion Oaks Golf Club (par 72, 5,826 yards). She carded a 75 on Saturday, one of two rounds under 80 in the field of 61 golfers, to hold a four-stroke lead after the first day and won by two strokes over Clarion’s Kim Dulski.

The ESU freshman won the New Jersey State Women’s Amateur Championship in July and is the second Warriors women’s golfer to medal in a tournament, joining Briana Malachowski.
