EAST STROUDSBURG – Krystal Napolitano scored 3:51 into overtime to give C.W. Post a 1-0 win over Kutztown and put East Stroudsburg University into the PSAC field hockey playoffs for the first time since 2002.

The Warriors (14-6, 5-3) secured their playoff bid eight days after their final PSAC East game of the regular season and 101 miles away from campus.

Kutztown entered the day needing a victory to finish with a 5-3 divisional record and held the tiebreaker by virtue of its 2-1 win at Bloomsburg on Sept. 7, but C.W. Post notched its second win of the season over the Golden Bears to deny them a spot in the playoffs.

ESU will travel to Shippensburg, the site of this year’s PSAC final four, and play the host Raiders (18-1) on Friday afternoon. Shippensburg won both meetings between the schools this season, 3-0 and 3-1. Bloomsburg (17-1), the top seed in the PSAC East, plays Mercyhurst (9-6) in the other semifinal.
