EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward Molly McNeil scored the game’s first goal and Kierstyn DeNardo had two assists in their final home games at East Stroudsburg University as the Warriors wrapped up the 2009 regular season with a 9-1 win over Mansfield on Thursday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

The Warriors (14-6) will wait for the final PSAC East standings after this weekend to see if they will make their first conference tournament appearance since 2002. The NCAA Division II tournament field will be announced on Monday, November 2.

McNeil scored an unassisted goal 3:22 into the game in her first start of the season, and DeNardo assisted on two second-half goals as ESU led 2-0 at halftime and scored seven goals in the second half. McNeil, who had four goals and two assists in 2008, and DeNardo, who has 10 career goals and 11 assists, were both selected to the NFHCA Division II All-Star game on Wednesday.

Junior forwards Caitlin Brownley (two goals) and Jessica Frantz (three goals, one assist) finished the regular season with 33 goals between them. Brownley’s season total of 19 goals is fourth in school history and she is tied for second with 46 points after adding eight assists. Frantz is sixth with 14 goals and also ranks in the top 10 with 10 assists this season.

Brownley has 30 career goals in her first three years, the ninth player at ESU to reach that mark, and has 15 assists. Her 75 career points will rank seventh all-time going into her senior year if the Warriors do not make the postseason.

Junior midfielder Joanna Reckley had two assists, giving her eight on the season. Freshman forward Alyson Becker scored the first two goals of her career, junior forward Katie Anderson scored her first goal of the season and third of her career and freshman midfielder Lauren Ventrella recorded her first career assist.

Liz Phillippy made 29 saves in goal for Mansfield and faced 47 shots. Three goalkeepers saw action for ESU – sophomore Maureen Ordnung (five saves), junior Jennifer Mullen (five saves) and freshman Sarah Dobroskey (one save) on 14 shots by the Mounties.
