Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG - Freshman Caitlin Brownley scored the game-winning goal 5:37 into the first overtime period to give East Stroudsburg University a 2-1 victory at Shippensburg in PSAC field hockey on Wednesday afternoon.

The victory gives ESU (6-7, 3-6) the series sweep, as the Warriors knocked off then-No. 2 Shippensburg (7-6, 3-6) 2-0 on Sept. 8 at Whitenight Field. Shippensburg was ranked No. 10 coming into Wednesday's game.

Brownley assisted on the Warriors' first goal of the game, as freshman Joanna Reckley scored her first career goal 12:01 into the contest to give ESU a 1-0 lead. Mariah Wooters tied the game at 1-1 7:28 into the second half, and the score remained deadlocked until Brownley came through with her second career goal to deliver the victory. Brownley scored ESU's first goal in a 2-1 win at Mercyhurst on Sunday.

Senior Sarah Cordora assisted on the game-winning goal, giving her eight assists for the season and 26 in her career.

Junior Carolyn Kisling made 10 saves in goal for ESU, including one in the overtime period. Allie Rutland made two saves for Shippensburg, as the Raiders held a 17-6 edge in shots but the Warriors made the most of their opportunities.

ESU will return home to host Mansfield on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
