EAST STROUDSBURG - Mercedes VanWagner scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Kutztown University to a 55-50 victory over East Stroudsburg, Tuesday in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's playoffs at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Kutztown improved to 16-12 overall and will play Edinboro Friday at California (Pa.) in the semifinals. ESU's season ends at 16-12.

Maryellen Onofre led ESU with 15 points, sinking four of six three-pointers and adding a steal and two assists. Senior Jasmine Gittens added 11 points, hitting three of five three-pointers. She also had an assist, a steal and six rebounds in her final game. Monika Fogelsanger added seven points and 11 rebounds while Jackie Yandrisevits had six points and six rebounds.

ESU led by a point at halftime and increased the lead to three with five minutes spent in the second half when Jasmine Gittens hit a three for a 33-30 lead. The Golden Bears went ahead with 10:17 left in the game. They increased the lead to eight with six minutes left in the game.

The Warriors got within four with 34 seconds left to play but Katie Harlor, Lara Dellegrotti and Rachel Weidensaul all hit free throws to keep Kutztown ahead.
