EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Keri Cahill is this week's ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after putting together a pair of strong all-around games for the Warriors' women's basketball team.
Cahill (Newfoundland/North Pocono) averaged 8.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists and moved into the all-time top 10 in career assists in a 64-47 win over Mansfield on Senior Night last Wednesday.
The senior guard had eight points, six rebounds and six assists against Mansfield and eight points, five rebounds, seven assists and two steals in a 78-76 loss on Saturday at Cheyney. ESU will close the 2008-09 season with trips to Millersville and West Chester this week.
She is fourth in the PSAC with 4.2 assists per game this season and has 105 assists on the year, bringing her career total to 235. She ranks ninth in school history and passed Gaye Chapman and Claudine Simard on the Warriors' career list last week.
Cahill has started all 25 games for the Warriors as a senior and is second on the team in rebounding, third in steals and fourth in scoring from her point guard position. She is averaging 6.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the year and has set or tied her single-game career-highs in scoring (14), rebounds (8) and assists (8) multiple times this season.
ABC Trophy, Inc. awards an athlete of the week to an outstanding student-athlete each week at ESU. Each recipient is presented with a red and silver plaque.
