NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – East Stroudsburg University trailed No. 22 Tampa 31-25 at halftime before the Spartans opened up the lead in the second half for a 66-49 victory in the Warriors’ 2009-10 women’s basketball opener on Friday at the Courtyard by Marriott Classic at Merrimack College.

2009-10 ESU Women's Basketball Season Outlook

Justin Potts, an eight-year veteran on the men’s basketball coaching staff at East Stroudsburg University, takes over as the acting head coach of the women’s program as the Warriors take the floor for the 2009-10 season.

Potts will lead a group that brings back three returning starters, all from Freedom High School in Bethlehem – guard Mel Villano, forward DeAnna Rayam and center Alexa Detzi – and four other letterwinners from the 2008-09 club that won a dozen games.

Justin Potts Named Acting Head Coach of ESU Women's Basketball Team

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University men’s basketball assistant coach Justin Potts has been named the acting head coach of the women’s basketball team, it was announced on Wednesday.

Potts has been an assistant coach at ESU alongside men’s basketball head coach Jeff Wilson since Wilson was named head coach prior to the 2002-03 season.He will maintain his responsibilities with the Warriors’ men’s basketball program along with his duties as the acting head coach of the women’s team.

Warriors Fall at West Chester in Final Game of 2008-09 Campaign

WEST CHESTER - Dana Weems scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half and helped West Chester clinch the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East with a 78-58 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Field House.

Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits had 20 points and six rebounds and senior guard Keri Cahill had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead ESU. Yandrisevits finishes her career as the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,784 points.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Keri Cahill is this week's ABC Trophy, Inc. Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after putting together a pair of strong all-around games for the Warriors' women's basketball team.

Yandrisevits Sets ESU Women's Basketball Career Scoring Record

CHEYNEY - Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits scored 29 points and broke East Stroudsburg University's career scoring record of 1,733 points held by Claudine Simard (1988-92) on Saturday at Cheyney's Cope Hall.

Yandrisevits scored 10 of ESU's first 16 points to tie Simard's record and hit a jumper from the left elbow with 6:49 left in the first half to give her 1,735 points and become the all-time leading scorer in school history. She finished with 1,752 points with two games left in the regular season.

Seniors Cahill, Yandrisevits Lead Warriors Past Mansfield, 64-47

EAST STROUDSBURG - Seniors Keri Cahill and Jackie Yandrisevits combined for 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists and led East Stroudsburg University to a 64-47 win over Mansfield in the Warriors' final home game of the 2008-09 season on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits scored 29 points and had a steal and two blocks in the final minute to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 66-62 win over Shippensburg in an important PSAC East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Warriors Roll Past Bloomsburg, 70-58

BLOOMSBURG - Junior forward DeAnna Rayam scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half to help East Stroudsburg University build a 22-point lead, and the Warriors coasted to a 70-58 win at Bloomsburg on Wednesday night in PSAC East action.

Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits had 15 points and eight rebounds and moved into third on the Warriors' career scoring list, passing Tonia Lloyd, who scored 1,675 points in her four years at ESU.

Senior guard Keri Cahill tied her career-high with 14 points and played in her 100th career game for the Warriors. She is three assists away from entering ESU's career top 10 and also had four rebounds, two steals and a block against the Huskies.

KUTZTOWN - Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits had 29 points, 12 rebounds and five steals, but Kutztown beat East Stroudsburg University for a 67-59 win in PSAC East women's basketball on Saturday at Keystone Hall.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits represents East Stroudsburg University on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Women's Basketball team for the second straight year, it was announced Thursday. She is the only player in the PSAC to earn the honor each of the last two seasons.

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior guard Keri Cahill had an offensive rebound and putback in the final minute to send the game into overtime, but Millersville scored the first five points of the extra session on its way to a 51-47 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East women's basketball on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Senior forward Jackie Yandrisevits scored 24 points to give her 1,498 for her career, and will become the fifth 1,500-point scorer in school history in Wednesday night's PSAC East opener against Kutztown.
