EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University freshman guard Kristen Murray is the PSAC East Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced Monday.
Murray (Harrisburg/Trinity) was the MVP of the 43rd Annual ESU Basketball Tournament last weekend after leading the Warriors to a pair of victories, beginning with a 65-64 win over Seton Hill on Friday night.
Murray had a career-high 20 points, including the game-winning free throws, and recorded six rebounds and five assists in the contest. ESU and Seton Hill traded three-pointers in the final 20 seconds before Murray drove to the basket and was fouled with five seconds left, and she made both free throws to give the Warriors the victory.
She scored 13 points, the fifth time in her first seven games that she has been in double figures, as ESU defeated Dowling 68-50 on Saturday.
Murray is the top freshman scorer in the PSAC and leads ESU with 13.7 points per game. She also has team-highs with 10 three-pointers and 20 assists, and ranks second on the team with 13 steals.
ESU has claimed each of the last two PSAC East Rookies of the Year, with junior guard Jackie Yandrisevits winning the award in 205-06 and sophomore guard Jhazmin Brown being honored last season.
The Warriors have won three of their last four games and will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. against Edinboro.
