EAST STROUDSBURG - Dave Sullivan finished second and Nate Nauroth fourth to highlight a strong showing for East Stroudsburg University, Saturday at the 40th annual ESU Wrestling Open at Koehler Fieldhouse.

More than 390 wrestlers packed into Koehler Fieldhouse for the ESU Open, one of the oldest Division I wrestling tournament in the country. No team scores were kept.

Sullivan, wrestling at 174, scored a 17-1 technical fall over Joe Varacalliu in 5:30 and beat Darius Caldwell of The Citadel 5-3. He won via medical forfeit over Jake Decker of Penn State and moved into the finals with a 3-1 win over Mike Ferrara of Rutgers. In the finals, he lost to Alston Lucas of Hofstra, 3-2.

Nauroth, who finished second last year as a freshman, opened the tournament with a second-period pin of Phil Koehler of Lehigh. He then beat Matt Lindsay of Delaware Valley 6-2 and dispatched Steve Fehnel of Maryland 6-0. He moved into the quarterfinals with a technical fall of Derek Royster of The Citadel. Nauroth lost to Charles Griffin of Hofstra 11-2 in the semifinals and to Matt Ciasulli, who was wrestling unattached in the consolation finals.

Heselpoth, wrestling at 157, won his first bout 3-1 over Hudson Collins of Blair Wrestler before falling into the consolation bracket. Wrestling back, he beat Dan Lewis of Lock Haven 9-2, Gaet Jens Lezin of Delaware Valley (8-6) and by medical forfeit over Archie McConnell of Pitt-Johnstown.

ESU will open its regular season Saturday Dec. 2 against Drexel at Northampton High School at 1 p.m.
