ESU Individual Results

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University junior heavyweight Chris Birchler is mentioned in this week's WrestlingReport NCAA Division I rankings, it was announced Tuesday.

Birchler (Fairfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) holds the last spot on this week's list of the top 33 heavyweights in the country. He is 18-4 on the season, with two of his losses coming to wrestlers ranked above him, and the other two coming against top-ranked Division II and III competition.

He has a 43-14 career record, including nine pins, and has finished second at the PSAC Championships in both of his first two seasons at ESU. Birchler is 13-2 in duals this season, helping the Warriors to a 5-3-1 mark in their last nine duals, and was 11-5 in dual competition a year ago.

Teammate Shane Mallory, who has a 16-8 record at 197 pounds this season, was ranked by WrestlingReport in December.

ESU hosts Bucknell, Wagner and Delaware State this weekend before preparing for the 2009 EIWA Championships, which will be held March 7-8 at The Palestra at the University of Pennsylvania.
