SPRINGFIELD, Ma. - The East Stroudsburg University men's volleyball team strengthened its hold on the top spot in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Division with a 3-1 win over No. 6 Springfield, Saturday evening at Blake Arena. This was the second time this season ESU beat Springfield. Both scores were 3-1.

ESU won the first two games 30-27, 33-31 and lost the third, 33-35. The Warriors closed the match with a 30-24 win in the fourth game and improved to 5-0 in division play.

The Warriors are 9-4 overall and the only unbeaten team in the Hay Division.

Sophomore Jon Daley had 19 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to lead the Warriors and also had 11 blocks. Junior Tom German had 15 kills while sophomore Jeff Quinn had 12 kills, 10 blocks, five digs and two aces. Keith Eckenrode had eight kills and an ace as well as four blocks. R.J. Roth had 14 digs and Ricci Krutop six kills.

ESU, unbeaten at home, will host Stevens Tech Friday at 7 p.m. and Harvard Saturday at 1 p.m.
