EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Jon Daley, junior Chris Holden and sophomore Don Hanna combined for 53 of the Warriors' 69 kills in East Stroudsburg University's five-game win over Mount Olive College in non-conference men's volleyball on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors (5-7) hit .255 for the match and rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat the Trojans (11-6), 26-30, 27-30, 30-28, 30-20, 16-14. ESU hit .343 in the third game and .478 in the fourth, then scored the final four points of the match in the fifth set.
Freshman setter Levi Kauffman tallied 59 assists and Holden (20 kills), Hanna (18) and Daley (15) were all in double figures in kills. Hanna hit .533 for the match, with just two errors on 30 attacks.
The Warriors were able to mount a comeback with an impressive defensive effort led by Holden, who recorded 13 digs, and sophomore Drew Dvorsky who added seven digs. Dvorsky was filling in at libero for R.J. Roth, who was out due to injury. Daley and Hanna built a wall at the net, with seven and six block assists respectively. Kauffman and senior Jeff Quinn added four block assists each.
Christiaan Rombaut had 17 kills and Alex Hoekstra recorded 53 assists for Mount Olive, which will visit Koehler Fieldhouse again next Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Warriors continue their four-game stretch of non-conference action next Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse with a 7 p.m. match against SUNY-New Paltz.
