EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University sophomore setter Josh Hobson is one of 14 student-athletes named to the 2009 EIVA All-Academic Team, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.

Hobson (Cambridge Springs/Cambridge Springs) has compiled a 3.53 grade-point average in Exercise Science during his first three semesters at ESU.

He led the Warriors to a 5-2 record in the final seven matches while stepping in after starting setter Levi Kauffman suffered a season-ending injury. He recorded 312 assists, an average of almost 45 per match, after taking responsibility for the Warriors offense and helped the team finish the season with a 10-9 record. He also contributed 49 digs and 14 blocks for ESU defensively.

Hobson recorded a season-high 60 assists against New York University late in the year, which included 22 kills by Jon Daley. The senior outside hitter had 295 kills and hit .289 for the season as ESU's top offensive player, while Chris Holden (222), Eli Porr (112) and Don Hanna (108) also eclipsed the 100-kill mark for the year.

Hobson was joined on the All-Academic team by student-athletes from Harvard, NJIT, NYU, Penn State, Sacred Heart, Springfield and St. Francis.
