EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior outside hitter Jon Daley had 22 kills, including 11 in an epic 42-40 win in the second set, to lead East Stroudsburg University to a three-set victory over New York University in EIVA Hay Division volleyball action at Koehler Fieldhouse Friday night.

The Warriors (9-9, 2-5) hit .316 for the night as they rolled past the Violets (30-28, 42-40, 30-20). Junior opposite Chris Holden (10 kills) and sophomore Don Hanna (nine) combined for 19 kills on the night.

The Warriors hit .353 in a two-point victory in the first set before outlasting NYU in the second set, which lasted 34 minutes and featured 101 total attacks between the two schools. ESU fought off several match points before Daley had his 11th kill of the game to put his team ahead 41-40, and an NYU attack error finally ended it after 82 total points.

With the momentum and growing crowd support, ESU finished the match handily in the third set after running out to a 18-9 lead after nine straight points off the serve of senior Kyle Duffy.

Sophomore Josh Hobson recorded 48 assists in the match and the Warriors received contributions from every player who stepped on the court, including senior Jeff Quinn (six kills, eight blocks), senior R.J. Roth (12 digs) and Duffy (four kills, two blocks).

The Violets attack was led by senior Devin Zolnowski who tallied 20 kills, and senior Ilan Goldstein had 34 assists.

ESU is back on the floor on Saturday on Senior Day against Sacred Heart, the second meeting between the schools this year after the Warriors won 3-2 in Connecticut over two months ago. Saturday's match will wrap up the season for the Warriors as they leave the court at Koehler Fieldhouse in their last year as a varsity sport.
