LANDISVILLE - Zach Wanner had 19 kills and Dan Powers added 16 to lead Juniata, the top-ranked team in the AVCA Division III poll, to a 3-1 victory over East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday night at Hempfield High School.

Senior outside hitter Jon Daley recorded 18 kills to lead the ESU attack and sophomore outside hitter Don Hanna (12 kills) and junior opposite Chris Holden (11) gave the Warriors three players in double figures.

ESU (9-8) won the first set 30-28 before Juniata (15-7) rebounded for a 30-24 win in the second set which featured just nine attack errors between the two teams. The Eagles won the third set 30-19 and finished with a 30-28 victory in the fourth.

Three ESU players contributed double figures in digs, with senior libero R.J. Roth posting a match-high 12 digs, sophomore setter Josh Hobson recording 11 digs to go with 51 assists, and sophomore outside Eli Porr checking in with 10 digs.

Powers, the two-time EIVA Tait Division Player of the Week, hit .519 on 27 attacks and Evan Halteman had 12 kills and a .688 attack percentage for Juniata. Setter Matt Werle added 53 assists, four kills, five digs and five blocks.

ESU is off this weekend and returns to action next Friday and Saturday (April 17 and 18) with home matches to finish the 2009 season.
