EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore Chris Holden had a match-high 21 kills and setter John Post handed out 52 assists to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 3-2 win over Nazareth College in the Warriors' men's volleyball opener on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Junior Jesse Landis (11) and freshman Michael Semeraro (10) both had double-digit kills for the Warriors, and freshman Brian Geslak hit .538, with eight kills on 13 attempts.

Post added six kills for the ESU attack, which hit .294 for the match. The Warriors hit .520 (14-1-25) in a 30-21 win in the third game before Nazareth came back with a 30-21 victory to force a fifth game.

The Warriors had four of their 14 blocks in the final game, and Holden closed the match with a kill for a 15-12 victory.

Junior libero R.J. Roth, who ranked second in the nation in digs last year, had 15 digs to lead the ESU defense. Junior Kyle Duffy had 3.0 blocks, and Holden and Geslak both had five block assists.

Tom Maving had 18 kills, Frank Leahy recorded 44 assists and Chris DeHority had 16 digs to lead Nazareth.

The Warriors will return to Koehler Fieldhouse on Wednesday when they host NYU at 7 p.m.
