EAST STROUDSBURG - Out of eleven awards given at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference meet held at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, six set new Koehler Fieldhouse records.
The highlight for ESU was both the men's distance medley team consisting of Drew Nesbitt, Jon Reid, Rob Innis, and Iuri Pinto and junior pentathlete Leslie Martin. The distance medley team set a new Fieldhouse, school, and PSAC indoor meet record crossing the finish line at 10:03.18. Martin not only broke the same records as the men's distance medley team, but also broke the PSAC all-time record by attaining 3594 points in the pentathlon.
Other record-breakers include: Ryan Blood (Lock Haven) who ran 14:27.09 in the 5000m, Nathan Reider (Shippensburg) which threw 61'06.75 in the men's weight throw, Rachael Lanzel (Edinboro) who ran 17:17.27 in the 5000m and Jen Hansen (Slippery Rock) who cleared 12'02" in the pole vault. Each of the athletes mentioned above broke both a Fieldhouse and PSAC indoor meet record.
Day two for the Indoor PSAC Championships will be filled with finals to see which men and women's team will take home the prestigious first place honor.
After day one, ESU women are fourth out of 14 teams and ESU men are third out of 12. Field events will resume on Sunday at 11 a.m. and track events at 11:30 a.m.
