Allentown, Pa. -- Jess Reynolds set a new women's pole vault record and East Stroudsburg claimed nine top places on Saturday night at the Muhlenberg Invitational. Reynolds vaulted 9-6 1/4 for the new school mark while first places from Zack Toomey in the shot put, Drew Nesbitt in the 800 meters and Christa Sandvig in the javelin highlighted the first placers.

Reynolds effort of 9-6 1/4 was good enough for fourth place in the event. Sandvig fired a 125-11 throw in the javelin for the Warriors lone first for the women. Toomey threw 46-11 3/4 for the shot put gold to win the event by nine inches while Nesbitt outran teammate Jim Dawson by .23 to win the 800 meters in 1:57.23.

ESU dominated the relay events for both teams. The women won all three relays, 4x100 (49.55), 4x400 (4:07.18), 4x800 (10:02.38). The men took both the 4x100 (43.39) and 4x400 (3:29.75) while third in the 4x800 relay (8:21.22).

The Warriors grabbed four runner-up finishes on the women's side. Theresa Manera ran 12.98 in the 100 meters and Tawny Youtz sprinted 26.63 in the 200 meters. Senior Kelly Curry covered the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:39.40 and Amy Donovan was second for the triple jump of 35-11 1/2.
Donovan also was third in the high jump (5-0 1/4). Jess Chong threw 112-5 in the javelin, Kristin Mullin ran 4:58.42 in the 1,500 meters, Trish Monteforte 2:27.61 in the 800 meters and Amy Jones threw 35-1 3/4 in the shot put for thirds.

ESU's men captured four second placings with Toomey leading the way with a toss of 141-11 in the discus. Dawson was right behind Nesbitt with a time of 1:57.46 for the 800 meters and Malcolm Huggins jumped 43-1 in the long jump. Glenn Kercher had a solid day with a second in the long jump (22-8) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.94).

Jon Reid, Mike Loenser and Todd Briener round out the men's bronze awardees. Reid ran 51.39 in the 400 meters, Loenser 4:05.54 for the 1,500 meters and Briener 1:07.17 over the 400-meter hurdles.

ESU will next travel to Shippensburg to participate in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East championships next Saturday.
